Week1B: Business & Personal Use of Social Media

I feel that social media platforms work interchangeably in terms of personal and business use. All the most commonly used social media platforms can be used for both personal and business purposes. The only social media platforms I can think of that are based solely on personal networking etc, are the many dating apps out there like Tinder, POF, Match, and many more. But, there is a difference in the way that personal and business social media platforms are used. One thing I have noticed and learned over time is that social media for business is a little to a lot more strategically planned.
Each business has to develop it’s own plan based on the target demographics of it’s users, for instance; did you know that Facebook is used by 71% of adult internet users?  While twitter is used 23% adults under 50 with higher education, Instagram is used by 26% adults, and 53% of young adults from ages 18 to 29. Just that little portion of information can be very useful to understand a little bit about what your audience looks like. From what I've read many experts recommend using and focusing on 3 social media platforms. I think of social media as a serious investment, the more time you put in the more feedback you will receive. The more social capital you gain the more revenue you will receive.
